Getting Into Your Dream Log Home – House Plans
For most of us, the thought of living way out in the boondocks where you don’t have a neighbor for miles generally sends us into a state of panic. There is no way that we can survive without being relatively close to a shopping mall or the grocery store. There are others who simply can’t imagine being that far from medical help if they should need it. But there are two sides to every opinion. The remaining portion of the population thinks that living way out in the middle of nowhere sounds like heaven to them. They probably couldn’t imagine life any other way. For those of you who feel the need for serious solitude, perhaps building your dream home from a set of small log home plans is just the thing you need.
When it comes to living out in the country with nature, generally a smaller home is better than a larger one. This way you have less of a home to keep clean, as well as less house to heat in the winter and less to cool in the summer. If you intend on building your log home in an area that will see an ample amount of snow fall each year, having less house to heat will really save on the utility bills. However, if you really live out far in the sticks, you might not even have any electricity. You could then simply build a fire in the fireplace to heat your home. In which case, a smaller home is usually more ideal again anyway. So when you are designing your log home house plans be sure to keep that in mind.
